We try new practices all the time. We research and publish what works and what doesn't so that you can learn right alongside us!
The Paradox of Generous Exclusion: Why It's Essential for True Inclusion
Last year, I was deeply inspired by a thought-provoking article by Priya Parker titled "Why the more is not always the merrier" where she names the concept of generous exclusion. She offers this definition “ an intentional drawing of a temporary line for the good of the guests and to help activate and fulfill a gathering’s purpose”.
WHAT?! But really??!! How would that work?
The Power of "Yes, and ..."
Many of us have been well trained to look for what doesn’t work. Ever catch yourself responding to community members’ novel ideas or concerns with “Yes, BUT”, without considering what values, hopes, fears or beliefs are driving it? It’s no surprise – our organizations highly value “problem spotters and solvers”. Yet this can narrow our world so that all we see are our ideas and our ways of doing things.
Overcoming Fake News: Challenges + Opportunities in Misinformation
This is the current context we are engaging in and it’s tough! Of course, we want to be open and welcoming of diverse views with a variety in perspectives. That gets extra complicated, however, when we aren’t all using the same baseline assumptions or understanding.
AI is changing the game - Are you on board?
Should I be looking at integrating AI in the work I do?
Should I know more? Where do I start?
What considerations are there for the use of AI in public engagement?
In this month’s Daring Dialogue we are tackling a topic that is on everyone’s mind (or at least their newsfeed) these days: Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Stand Your Ground
Unapologetically – Insist, hold and stand your ground for meaningful, better conversations.
For me being unapologetic means being honest with yourself, trusting your instincts and having the courage to be vulnerable and share with others. Being unapologetic (about the things that are most important) is a powerful way to live and work and, dare I say, have a positive impact on people and issues around you.
All About Change
How we engage with participants is pivotal to success when it comes to facilitating change.
We created the following manifesto to let others know how we approach public engagement and
change-making. Along with IAP2’s seven core values, the following informs and guides our
work.
